We will be following the book [OV] Lie Groups and Algebraic Groups by A. Onishchik, E. Vinberg (available through the library).

The problems marked (!) are mandatory to submit a problem set. If a problem set has n problems, $\lceil n/2 \rceil$ need to be submitted for the top mark for this problem set.
  • Homework 1. Due Apr 24. [OV] Chapter 1.1. Problems: 2 (!), 3 (!), 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 23 (!). Exercises: 1 (!), 4, 5, 7, 11.
  • Homework 2. Due May 8 (no class May 1). [OV] Chapter 1.2. Problems: 1 (!), 3 (!), 5, 9. Exercises: 1, 2, 3, 7 (!).
  • Homework 3. Due May 22. [OV] Chapter 1.2. Problems: 17 (!), 18, 20, 21. Exercises: 9, 10, 11, 12, 13(!), 14.
